The Chiloquin Vector Control District (CVCD) was founded in 1960 when residents in the area decided they had enough with the mosquito infestations. Residents could not enjoy their own back yards. Farmers could not work their fields in the evenings when the weather was more pleasent because mosquitoes were swarming. Currently the mosquito control operations are outsourced to a private company, Three Rivers Mosquito and Vector Control, which utilizes the District equipment. This reduces the costs while increasing services.
The Chiloquin Vector Control District Board of Trustees meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month except for November and December, at the Chiloquin Community Center Conference Room at 6:30PM. The agenda includes discussions about mosquito control, mosquito monitoring, bill paying, budget issues and general management concerns. The public is encouraged to attend and offer public comments at the end of each meeting. The meeting room is wheelchair accessible.
